What Every Catholic Should Know About Suffering, Evil & God is the second in a series of faith studies at Sacred Heart Parish geared towards adult Catholics who desire to deepen their love of Jesus Christ and knowledge of His teaching and His Church.
In this faith study we will investigate questions such as: Can God do evil? Why does suffering occur, even to the innocent? Why does evil occur if God is all good and all powerful? Why does God allow people to hurt others? Does the Old Testament teach about a God different from the one revealed by Jesus Christ? How do we understand the "dark passages" of Sacred Scripture?

First Meeting: Sunday, March 16th @ 7:00pm
What?
A faith formation program for adults. Each meeting will consist of the following:- Opening Prayer
- Presentation
- Discussion of Presentation & Readings
- Closing Prayer
The focus of our course and discussions will be on Pope St. John Paul's Salvifici Doloris, as well as Mark Giszczak's two books (Suffering and Light on the Dark Passages of Scripture). We will also be making much use of the Bible (especially Job, Ecclesiastes, and the Gospels). The saintly Pope's text is available for free below, and books will be available via the Parish for the first ten parishioners.
